Hapoel Tel Aviv signs Max Heidegger: One-year deal fuels EuroLeague ambitions

Hapoel Tel Aviv have confirmed the signing of Max Heidegger as their primary point guard. The 29-year-old American-Israeli guard signed a contract until the end of the 2026/27 season. The move is Hapoel's fourth addition of the summer window after Tomas Satoransky, Zach LeDay and Jacob Toppin. Heidegger played for Bnei Herzliya last season, averaging 15.2 points, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 25.2 minutes per game. He shot 67.2% on two-pointers and 39.3% from three-point range. Earlier in the season, he played for Burgos, posting 12.4 points per game on solid efficiency. Head coach Dimitris Itoudis highlighted Heidegger's basketball IQ and motivation. "We welcome Max Heidegger, a very talented and intelligent player," Itoudis said. "He is totally motivated and very aware of his situation." Club director George Hinas added that Heidegger is known for his offensive ability and his talent for directing the game. Tactically, Heidegger is expected to run Hapoel's half-court offense and create off pick-and-rolls. His size at 1.91m should help in switch-heavy EuroLeague defenses. The short-term contract gives the club flexibility, but Heidegger faces pressure to adapt quickly. The first 10–15 EuroLeague games will be a key evaluation window.
